FREE Initial Meeting With A Business Accountant Based In Perth

To get started working with our business accountants, we need to arrange a Get To Know Each Other meeting.

Book Now

This is a free meeting (businesses only) that is typically around an hour in length and helps us both determine if we are a good fit.

Clients We Work Best With

A couple of the main things to think about as to whether we would be the right fit are:

  1. Do you want the confidence and peace of mind of going with high-quality accountants and business advisors?
  2. Do you already generate $1million+ in revenue, or do you plan to grow your business to $1million+ in revenue? (We help businesses with $0 to $100m+ turnover.)

If the answer to both those questions is yes, then we are most likely a great fit, no matter what stage of business you are in.

Price For Future Services

Typically, from here it is less about “can we help you” given you’ll find out during our meeting that we definitely can, it’s more about “do you want to pay for high-quality advice and assistance?”

We’re quite upfront about this and hopefully you can appreciate we bring up price early in our correspondence for the simple purpose of making sure neither of us are wasting our time if you’re not willing to pay for our premium service offering – As a high-quality accounting and business advisory service provider we have a minimum annual price of $3,000.

Trying to keep this topic short, we have a fair pricing policy (click the link to see the menu of prices too), which in essence is about saying we offer a premium accounting service and want to work with clients who want this. If that’s you, then we look forward to helping you grow your business well into the future with wealth protected and taxes legally minimised.

More about the specifics of the meeting are below.

Meeting Agenda

The meeting can take place in-person at our Perth headquarters, or if you’re located elsewhere in Australia then we can also do the meeting over Zoom.

During the meeting we typically cover these items:

  1. We obtain your consent to record the meeting. This is for quality control and efficiency. We use secure AI software to help prepare meeting notes, which allows us after the meeting to more quickly respond to what you need.
  2. We discuss your expectations of the meeting to align on what we will and won’t address during the meeting.
  3. We let you know that no question is off limits and please interrupt us if we’re not making sense. We know that tax and accounting can be complex and whilst we always try our best to make things understandable, we appreciate that it’s difficult to understand and we’re more than happy to explain things in different ways and several times to help you understand.
  4. We let you tell your story – what are you planning, what’s your situation and goals, and what challenges would you like our help with.
  5. We’ll add our experienced insights to help you understand how we can help you with those matters.
  6. We can provide a short history about Munro’s, what our firm stands for and what clients say about us.
  7. We will outline our recommendations of how to proceed after the initial meeting.
  8. We will check back in to see if you agree that expectations of the meeting have been satisfied and ensure you don’t leave uncertain of what will happen next.

Before the Meeting

To allow us to best prepare for the meeting and assign to an appropriate accountant, we request the following information about the business and your/owner’s circumstances:

  1. What are the main reasons for you seeking our help? What help do you want from us?
  2. What does the business do?
  3. Who are the owners?
  4. What is the business structure? Sole trader / partnership / family trust / unit trust / company?
  5. How much revenue do you make/anticipate making on an annual basis?
  6. What profit do you make/anticipate making on an annual basis?
  7. How many employees do you have/anticipate having?
  8. How much of the owner’s money has/is going to be injected into the business?
  9. Are you taking out a loan? If so, approximately how much? Do you have equity in assets (e.g. real estate) to use as security for the loan?
  10. What, if any, other income do the owners and their partners (e.g. wife/husband/spouse) make on an annual basis and from what (e.g. employment/rentals/investments)?
  11. What assets do the owners and their partners own, including the approximate value and amount of any associated loans?
  12. What are your medium to long-term plans for the business(es)?

If you could also please provide a copy of your most recently completed financial statements that will be helpful.

After the Meeting

After the initial meeting, if we both want to work together, then we typically get to work on fully scoping the services you need and agreeing to a mutually beneficial engagement agreement with clear pricing terms for the first 12 months.

We look forward to meeting with you soon.

Super grateful to Drew and the team at Munro’s for their quick response and helpfulness! I reached out via their website to see about getting a referral for a comparable crypto tax advisor in the United States, as Munro’s seemed to be the best firm I came across in my research. Drew got back to me within hours and was kind enough to reach out to his network for a reputable contact. He directed me to a great firm and was quick, kind, and communicative throughout. Wish we were based in Australia so we could work with Drew and his team for all our tax advisory needs! Highly recommend.

    Exceptional Professionalism and Genuine Support

I can’t thank Drew enough for the incredible support he offered during an incredibly stressful and emotional time. His communication was efficient, clear, and refreshingly straightforward—qualities that are hard to come by when dealing with complex financial and legal matters.

Although Munros were ultimately unable to take on my case due to an internal conflict, Drew still gave generously of his time and expertise without charge. He treated the complex situation with empathy and integrity, when most professionals would have run a mile. His advice and clarity made a tangible difference to both my confidence and the steps I’m now taking to secure a better future for myself and my children.

It’s deeply regrettable that I can’t continue with Drew as our accountant long-term, because he would’ve been my first choice without question. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing not only expert accounting but also genuine human support.

Thank you again, Drew — you have been amazing.

Munro’s are an outstanding outfit mastering in complicated tax situations and are highly focussed on providing a client centred approach. I presented Saul with a complicated case of overdue tax’s and substantial crypto and share trading activity. To say that he handled this situation with aplomb is an understatement. He resolved my situation promptly and what seemed to be with ease. Sure it is great to have your taxes done by consummate professionals but for me this is not their best feature. It is the customer service that I received that was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. He was extremely patient and dealt with my constant questioning with a great attitude. Always polite and willing to offer his professional advice I sincerely felt like a had an ally in my corner. Saul was a pleasure to work with and I look forward to next years Tax Time.

David and I have been loyal clients of Munros for many years—I think since we were married in 1962. David made all the decisions in those early years. I became a more active partner as we worked with Ted Wilhelm and Ian Arblaster until their retirement. We then worked with Christine Prasetia for our financial, accounting, taxation and our wills until David’s death in May, 2017. Christine has patiently guided me through taking up the reins of our business venture. She is very efficient and totally reliable in all our dealings. I feel fortunate to have Christine as my accountant and business advisor. Thanking you, Val McAlpine

On behalf of our farming family, congratulations on 50 years. We have been with Munros 3 generations starting I think when My Grandmother switched at the start. My late Father always had good dealings with whoever was assigned to us which there have not been too many over the 50 years which I think may be a reflection of the stability and integrity of Munros. Simon Strawbridge who was the new kid on the block back in my fathers day and the rest of the team has always provided us with great service and we thank the whole team for their support over the years.

I required some complicated advice from a business accountant on an urgent matter. It involved legal issues and advice as well as accounting advice.
I contacted Drew Pflaum of Munro’s via the website, and he got back to me very promptly.
Drew showed that he was well able and indeed very keen to think outside the square.
Nothing was too much trouble and he has some very valuable professional contacts that he is able to consult with if needed.
With Drew’s obvious intelligence and honesty coupled with an enviable network of contacts, and his keen desire to achieve the best results possible in a timely manner, I have no hesitation in recommending him for any sort of business accounting advice.

We first met Mike Beer 25 years ago, when he was assigned to our account by his employer at the time. When Mike moved to Munro’s, we decided to transfer our business to follow him as we were so impressed with both his professionalism and his character.

We have never regretted our decision to keep our business with Munro’s and Mike, who we think of as a good friend first and a total professional second for the excellent service he and his company have provided.

    Congratulations Munro’s on your anniversary!

We have been clients of Munro’s (and Donald F Munro & Assoc. before that) for more than 50 years and have always found them to be right on point with their advice and work. Nothing is too much trouble to research and the responses always given in easy-to-understand language. We love that the K.I.S.S principle is used (keep-it-simple-stupid!) We can’t thank Simon and Carl enough for the great service that they provide. I have also, in community roles, worked with Barry Virgo and Ian Arblaster over the years on Co-operative business and their knowledge was second to none.

He helped us meet our deadline, understand the consequences of each available option and now establish our small farming enterprise. We cannot thank him and the team at Munro’s enough. Accountant Drew was very helpful with a detailed insight to capital gains tax and reset period shall we sell our property. Drew contacted five minutes after I enquired to the office and followed up with this assessment

The tax tribunal has said that a common-sense assessment applies when considering the varying number of factors and even conflicting circumstances when determining if a house is someone’s main residence. In your case, the Bunbury house may have become your main residence for that short eight week stay if you moved a great deal of personal belonging there. However, a common-sense assessment likely suggests it did not become your main residence (at least on the facts that I know). If it didn’t become your main residence, then the maximum period you can claim the property as your main residence for the period since 2018 is 6 years. I.e. 2018-2014. For the period 2024 onwards, the main residence exemption cannot apply. You could, however, move back in and re-establish it as your main residence and then move out and rent again, which would restart the absentee rule. However, you still would not get the main residence exemption for the period 2024 to the time you moved back in because the maximum 6 years has expired for this current period of absence.

As soon as I saw that Munro’s were recommended by the cryptocurrency tracking app CoinTracking for tax advice, I knew they must be absolute pros.

Munro’s will be my accountants for life now. Nothing was too much trouble and everything has gone so smoothly.

Here’s what Carl fixed for me for my latest tax return:

reconciled complex history from various crypto exchanges, some of which are now defunct, which I had spent several days trying to get various AI models to assist with to no avail

fixed my balance issue in CoinTracking to accurately reflect my position

Corrected purchase and sales history for employee shares scheme

Adjust various mistakes from my previous accountants and carry forward the adjustments

Scrutinised previous tax returns to adjust missed capital losses from a kitchen renovation completed over a decade ago on an investment property that can now be used to offset future capital gains.

Provide clear advice on every single thing I asked with no hesitation. It’s so obvious that these guys have seen it all and done it all.

Because I’m with Munro’s now, I feel SO much more confident about some big financial moves where the nightmarish tax implications would otherwise boggle the mind.

    Thank you so much!

By the way, I wasn’t asked to do this review or sent one of those “please review us on Google” emails. I am posting this because I’m so happy with the service I was provided, it sells itself and I suppose a perfect 5 star rating with 140+ reviews is a testament to the fact that all of Munro’s customers have a similar experience to me. If you have complex tax affairs I don’t think you’ll find anyone better.

5 Stars from Don. I can’t thank Drew and Brian enough for dealing with my very complex history across multiple years of cryptocurrency trading. This has been across many exchanges, wallets, and my Dash Masternode history also. Drew and Brian have been flawless when fielding my various questions across the months it has taken to work through my complex case load.
Based in Sydney, I got into cryptocurrency in 2013, and it lead me down a trajectory in life I could never have foreseen. Getting this tax aspect of it up to date will take a layer of stress off my back.

    I highly recommend Munro’s, Perth.
